Dear Kyle Hemingway, With due maximum respect,I crave your indulgence knowing that this my proposal will be a surprise to you. I am Alfred Cheng, an attorney at law and the accredited legal representative to late Mr. Allan Hemingway, who was herein after as my late client .He died as a result of a heart related illness in December 2005. I am seeking for your consent to assist in the transferring of this funds left behind by my late client into your account before it is confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank, and this deposited value; Seventeen Million Six Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand United States Dollars. Since you have the same last name with my late client,so the proceeds of this funds can be remitted into your account. The bank has issued me a notice to contact the next of kin or the account will be confiscated and so far all my efforts to get hold of someone related to my client has prove abortive. My proposition to you is to seek your consent in presenting you as the next of kin or beneficiary to my late client’s Estates funds, since you have the same last name. It is my assurance that this project will be successful and I will make sure that the project is done within the applicable laws to guarantee full legitimacy. Then we can both share the funds on a mutually agreed percentage. All legal documentations to back up your claims as my late client’s or next of kin will be issued to us. All I required is your absolute honesty, cooperation and total adherence to my instructions to enable us transfer this funds into your account smoothly. This project will be executed under a legitimate arrangement which will protect you from any infraction of the law. If this proposition offends your moral ethics,do accept my sincere apology. In contrary, indicate your interest. Further details will be giving as soon as your interest is indicated. Yours sincerely Barrister Alfred Cheng (Senior Advocate)

Before I begin, I would like to notify everyone that I’m writing this post from work while I copy photos from CDs onto the hard drive of my computer. Without anything to do but watch a status bar, I decided to blog.

I have one day left before many changes begin happening in my life. Tomorrow is my last day working in the Office of Creative Services at Emerson College. After tomorrow I will move to a new apartment, begin a new job, and start traveling all over New England to tell high school students about how awesome Emerson is. Before I move forward, though, I’d like to take a step back and remind myself of how truly awesome these past two months have been.

I’ve learned how to better operate within a team. Chuck, Carrie and Nancy have been the bee’s knees in helping me along and become part of their well-oiled machine. I am a better designer for having worked with Chuck, have a renewed affection for grammar and punctuation from Fancy Nancy, and a new-found appreciation for project management from Carrie. I have a vastly expanded vocabulary with which to discuss design-related issues. I got the chance to hone my Illustrator and InDesign illustration skills, and am thus no longer afraid of the pen tool and pathfinder palette. I designed some fancy things. I learned I know a lot more than I think I do.

As excited as I am for my new job in the Office of Undergraduate Admission, I will most definitely miss this place. It’s been very invigorating to work collaboratively on design work with these fabulous people. It’s been wonderful to have access to awesome photography and top-notch printing. And, what is probably the most overlooked aspect of this job, I have thoroughly enjoyed Nancy sending me galleys that I don’t have to create myself. That, as Dorothy said through a tear-stained face to the Scarecrow, will be what I miss the most.

Out of all of the life plans I currently am weighing in my new project, I’m pretty sure I will always return to graphic design. With a heaping helpful of art history, of course. Perhaps I’ll design for a museum.

Oh wait, I’m already doing that.

    Dear Kyle Hemingway,

My name is Barr.Bakr Azmi a legal practitioner with A.Bakr & Associates in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.

I found your contact/profile some where over the Internet and it gave me the greatest joy, that you are the one I have been looking for. Whom I strongly believe could execute this transaction with me. And being more positive that with your capability, that this transaction of transferring the sum of 17,530,000.00 will be successfully accomplished. My purpose of contacting you is for you to help secure the funds left behind by my late client, to avoid it being confiscated or declared unserviceable by the Finance House. Where this fund valued (17,530,000.00) Seventeen Million, Five hundred and Thirty thousand United State Dollars deposited by my client before his death in Dec 2004.

You might be wondering why am I communicating with you, believe it or not it is simply because you have the same surname with my late client. Though this is coincidental, I strongly believe, you could help me in the task which is the distribution of my late clients funds. And the said funds in the Finance House is considered “UNSERVICEABLE” after my client passed away as there were no indication of next of kin whatsoever that the Institution could consider as a beneficiary for the said funds.

Being my late clients legal adviser, the Institution notified my office, that I need to produce and to contact the next of kin of my deceased client, to either “REACTIVATE” the account or to “MAKE CLAIMS” of the said funds which is carrying a monthly surcharge.

Now, my intention is purely to seek your consent to kindly present you as the legal next of kin/beneficiary to my late client’s funds. This would mean that the proceeds of the said funds would be released to you. After the release of the funds to you, we shall then share it mutual, which will be 70% to me and 30% to you.

My office would provide documents to back up your claim. The most important thing I need is your honest/sincere cooperation in this task. And I assure you that this transaction will be legally executed according to the dictates of the law, which will protect you from any infraction of the law.

However, if this business proposition offends your moral ethics, do accept my sincere apology. If on the contrary you wish to achieve this goal with me, kindly get back to me with your interest immediately for further details.

    Best regards
    Barr.Bakr Azmi (Esq)

I think that this man, in a one-minute-and-eight-second YouTube video, just taught me everything that Camilo Ramirez did in an entire semester.

With much less antagonism and self-loathing.

So, you’ll notice that the digs have gotten a facelift recently. To be perfectly honest, it began as an experiment to test some new elements that I plan on using for a client, and would rather make the typical learning mistakes on a personal project than a paying one. Thus, I give you my brand new blog.

You’ll notice the Miloš Forman quote beneath my name. It’s something new I’m trying since Mr. Forman imparted the incredibly succinct wisdom upon the Emerson College Class of 2009. I will be telling the truth without being boring here from now on. (I apologize profusely if I was telling the truth while being boring previously).

The facelift is, however, like all things, a work in progress. Only the homepage has been entirely taken care of, and the other pages will receive their styling in due time. In the meantime, please bear with me while the dust settles on my new home on the web.

Well well well, it’s been far too long since one of these. Let’s take a stab at it, shall we? I promise to spare you most of the minutae, that’s what my twitter is for.

I’ve graduated. I’m still trying to figure out what that means. I have a piece of paper that still needs a frame which claims I am a "Bachelor of Arts." No specification aside from that. I am considering telling people that it is a BA in Ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Just because I can.

I’ve spent the past few days at home in the office, doing work for clients. The office isn’t nearly as scary during the day time as it is at 1:00 am when I’m late for a deadline and also have a 20-page paper about the performance art of Chris Burden to complete. The amount of natural light that shines in here is beautiful, and I’m thoroughly enjoying working without tungsten bulbs changing the colors of things.

I don’t feel any different than I did a week ago, but I’m working on actually trying to be a functioning member of society. One can claim to own and operate a small business, but one must actively do so to legitimize such a claim. As such, I’m busting my ass for our fierce clients, taking on a bunch of extra work that merely a week ago I would not have been able to do. I think, for the summer, I’m going to seek out part-time employment in something fabulous and try to work more on our business. It’s quite rewarding work, when there are no other ridiculous stressors stopping me from enjoying it.

I haven’t begun reading Pride and Prejudice yet, but I need to start soon.

Perhaps tomorrow. Unless I have a job tomorrow.

    Today, I am thankful for:

    1. My parents being the incredibly supportive and generous people they are.
    2. Jeremy, for being there and helping me formulate a life plan on the fly nearly every day.
    3. Mitchi, for making sure I’m not lonely stuck in Dorchester all day every day.
    4. My business, for giving me something to be proud of even during unemployment.
    5. My friends for being fabulous and helpful human beings.
