Well well well, it’s been far too long since one of these. Let’s take a stab at it, shall we? I promise to spare you most of the minutae, that’s what my twitter is for.
I’ve graduated. I’m still trying to figure out what that means. I have a piece of paper that still needs a frame which claims I am a "Bachelor of Arts." No specification aside from that. I am considering telling people that it is a BA in Ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Just because I can.
I’ve spent the past few days at home in the office, doing work for clients. The office isn’t nearly as scary during the day time as it is at 1:00 am when I’m late for a deadline and also have a 20-page paper about the performance art of Chris Burden to complete. The amount of natural light that shines in here is beautiful, and I’m thoroughly enjoying working without tungsten bulbs changing the colors of things.
I don’t feel any different than I did a week ago, but I’m working on actually trying to be a functioning member of society. One can claim to own and operate a small business, but one must actively do so to legitimize such a claim. As such, I’m busting my ass for our fierce clients, taking on a bunch of extra work that merely a week ago I would not have been able to do. I think, for the summer, I’m going to seek out part-time employment in something fabulous and try to work more on our business. It’s quite rewarding work, when there are no other ridiculous stressors stopping me from enjoying it.
I haven’t begun reading Pride and Prejudice yet, but I need to start soon.
Perhaps tomorrow. Unless I have a job tomorrow.
Today, I am thankful for:
- My parents being the incredibly supportive and generous people they are.
- Jeremy, for being there and helping me formulate a life plan on the fly nearly every day.
- Mitchi, for making sure I’m not lonely stuck in Dorchester all day every day.
- My business, for giving me something to be proud of even during unemployment.
- My friends for being fabulous and helpful human beings.
